Bottom line, there is nothing but positive to be gained from it! With such a huge list of benefits, the question you should ask yourself is, “why am I not meditating yet?”

Make sure you meditate, there are quite simply too many positives to just ignore it.

Morning Meditation

A daily morning meditation can be a wonderful and refreshing start to your day. It helps to clarify your thinking as well as uplift your mood. My personal practice is to meditate for 15 minutes when I first awaken. It definitely energizes me, and grants me a soft focus that stays with me for the remainder of the day. There are a multitude of meditation techniques you can utilize depending on your personal preference. I prefer deep breathing meditation, where my attention is placed on the rhythm of my in and out breathing. Here is a informative link where you will find a wide variety of meditation techniques: http://www.freemeditations.com/

Perhaps you will discover a meditation perfectly and individually tailored for you!

Some helpful books on reconnecting to our True Self.

Connecting To Our True Self

From many of the spiritual books I have read of late, I have come across the concept of our True Self. Of course the idea that we have two selves, our ego based self, and an inner True self are not new. Years back I remember the modern mystic Vernon Howard speaking often about learning to live from our inner or True self. The idea that there is an inner self which can only respond with unconditional love and wisdom strikes a chord of Truth within myself. By practicing the ancient spiritual teaching of self observation, I am able to observe my ego based self in action in a calm, yet detached manner. It is amazing and often shocking to see some of my daily behavior from such a detached impersonal perspective. Hidden motivations for acts I performed became appallingly obvious, and it truly was a shock to discover that many of my altruistic deeds were done for selfish reasons.

It's not that our ego is necessarily evil in and of itself, we obviously have one for a reason. It is when the ego ceases to be the tool it was meant to be, and we identify with it that our problems begin. Our True self on the other hand is who we truly are, our uniquely divine inner spark that remains ever bright behind all the dark clouds of ego consciousness. Sometimes we have such enlightening moments when the ego clouds dissipate long enough for us to catch a glimpse of our True self, and we are able to respond to situations with grace and compassion. We feel connected to our divine wisdom and inner peace ensues.

It would appear that the basis of all the great spiritual traditions is to assist us in reconnecting with our True self. By practicing impartial self-observation we can see ourselves as we actually are, and not as we fancy ourselves to be. This is actually not a negative act at all, for once we shine the divine light of self observation on our dark actions, they dissipate. Of course the subject of our True self is far deeper and has many more facets than I could ever hope to cover here. There are many wonderful authors such as Vernon Howard, Guy Finley, and Sydney Banks who can start you on your path to discovering your True self. The best part of all is that you don't have to look anywhere outside of yourself, you have had it all along!

Happy Holidays!

Regardless of our personal or religious beliefs, most of us have a special place in our hearts for the Christmas season. We each express the holiday season in our own unique fashion, perhaps through sacred rituals or family traditions passed down from generation to generation. Personally I celebrate Christmas not as a Christian holiday, but as it was celebrated in the pre-Christian era. You can glean some great information on that here: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/unsolved_mysteries/85686
Of course I add some personal touches to make my holiday celebration unique and personal. However you celebrate your Christmas, I want to wish you all a sacred, Soul and Love filled holiday season!

Daily Inspiration

One of my favorite topics is Individuality. Even though I truly believe we are all divinely connected at Soul level, I also believe that we are each eternally Individual Souls. When I see all the diversity in nature, even on the lowest levels, I cannot help but understand that Creator absolutely adores Individuality. One of my favorite teachers was Ernest Holmes founder of Religious Science. One of his teachings sums up my personal belief about Individuality: "We believe in the eternality, the immortality, and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding." Personally, I am ever grateful for all of our Individual differences. What a boring, tasteless world this would be if we were all exactly alike! Edgar Cayce taught that God created us as Individual Souls so that we might grow fully into our unique selves, and ultimately rejoin the Creator as perfected Individual Souls. That idea rings true to me at a deep Soul level.

After all, there must be a divine reason for our uniqueness, as it is incredibly common. Even identical twins are unique Individuals with different personalities and tastes. We have all heard that no two snowflakes are exactly alike, and that is how it should be. Our diversity and uniqueness is sacred, and we should honor it daily. Cultivate your personal passions, wear that funky outfit if you like it, and simply be yourself. Be who you really are, and never try to impress anyone else by being someone you are not. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I disagree. Imitation is an assault on your divine Individuality. So perhaps you can start today to appreciate your one of a kind self, share your unique gifts with the world, and above all, be true to yourself! Have a blessed day!

Daily Inspiration

The Mystic path is not always an easy one to walk. There are days when we feel completely illuminated by some Mystic Truth we have stumbled across, we are completely filled with unconditional love, hope, and optimism. Then there are the proverbial 'dark valley' kind of days, where we lose our faith, and suddenly view the world through dark and dreadful glasses. It is during the often inevitable dark days that we most need some inspiration, perhaps a gentle reminder that there is a real light at the end of the tunnel. Hence, I have decided to offer a daily inspiration section, in the hopes of guiding you towards that ever true light during your dark moments. Of course, it would be wonderful if my readers also contributed their own rays of light by sharing personal insights, spiritual revelations, and inspirational stories and quotes. It is my sincere hope those of us on the Mystic Path can come together, and just perhaps, shed some much needed light upon this dark world. Thank-you for reading, and may your day be filled with love and light!

Louise Hay

One of my original favorite spiritual mentors is Louise Hay. Her book titled 'You Can Heal Your Life' actually started me on my spiritual journey. I shall always hold Louise close to my heart for that. If you haven't already. do check out her classic work.
Welcome to the Mystical Life Blog. This blog was created to express the timeless Truths than can be found in a wide variety of spiritual paths. Please feel free to post your own beliefs that you have discovered on your own mystical journey. All viewpoints are welcome, please take the time to share. Thank-you!

Seeking Spiritual Truth

This is a blog dedicated to the spiritual path of all Mystic Seekers. There are as many varied paths to the Truth as there are Seekers on these paths. The purpose of this blog is to create a safe haven for all Mystics to come and share their particular beliefs, and perhaps offer some Spiritual wisdom they have gleaned during their quest for Truth. All ideologies are welcome here. Personally, I have learned much from wonderful teachers such as Louise Hay and Vernon Howard. Have also been privileged to learn some varied and interesting spiritual practices from some Wiccans on their own special path.

It is my hope that perhaps those of us on the Mystic's Path can come together and share our insights and wisdom. Whoever you may be, whatever path you may be on, rest assured your thoughts and ideas will be welcome here.

Vernon Howard

Another wise spiritual teacher I have had the privilege of learning from is Vernon Howard.  He wrote several spiritual classics before his death in 1992.  He was also a mentor of Guy Finley, another favorite spiritual teacher of mine.

Vernon Howard wrote 'The Mystic Path To Cosmic Power', and it is a highly recommended read.  If you are not familiar with Vernon Howard this book is a wonderful introduction to his teaching of the Eternal Truths.  I have personally read this book, and it is  one of my favorites.

Guy Finley Again

Here is another great book by Guy Finley that I have already read.  Check it out, you will be happy you did!

Guy Finley

Recently I was introduced to a wonderful modern day Mystic and author by the name of Guy Finley.  Currently I am reading his book titled 'The Essential Laws Of Fearless Living.'  So far it is a very informative read, chock full of spiritual gems.  Has anyone else heard of Guy Finley, and perhaps have any personal experience with his works?
